Disciples of Jesus are deployed & multiplying
The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. – 2 Timothy 2:2 NASB
He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. Col. 1:28-29 NIV
At Narrow Gate, we feel called to: Invest in Disciples and Equip Disciple Makers by Mirroring the Methods of The Master. This process takes time. Our disciple making covenant groups convene for three years. Becoming a Disciple of Jesus is a lifestyle that cannot be microwaved in six-week studies.
The olive tree is a beautiful representation of the disciple making process.
The Word speaks of the blessing of the Lord, from the olive leaf that marked the end of the Flood (Genesis 8:11) to the two “olive trees,” witnesses who prepare for Christ’s Second Coming (Zechariah 4:3, 4:11-14, Revelation 11:4). The olive tree doesn’t grow well in rich soil, but does best in calloused ground such as limestone or rock. The olive is naturally bitter fruit that needs to be fermented for extended periods of time.
OUR CALLING & HISTORY
In 2002, Narrow Gate Founders Bill and Paula Lohnes dedicated their lives to the “Lordship” of Jesus and began studying His public ministry as a model for contemporary “Disciple Making.” God put a burden on their hearts to equip Disciple Making Leaders to be intentional reproducers to the 4th generation by answering the 4 Calls of God:
Bill and Paula surrender to Jesus’ Lordship; begin studying the public ministry of Jesus; Bill begins being discipled by John Musselman
First Disciple Making Groups launch for men at Mount Pisgah UMC, 6 leaders and 28 men
Begin Narrow Gate; begin first women’s groups; taught Wesleyan Discipleship to 70+ Pastors with John Musselman in Lagos, Nigeria at the West African Theological Seminary
Narrow Gate became a 501c3; adopted Jesus Model for Disciple Making and developed Apprentice of Jesus Curriculum
Equipped 36 Pastors to Make Disciple Makers in 12 European Countries; Trained over 100 Pastors at The Moscow Theological Seminary in Russia; Ongoing training of Disciple Making Leaders: Way of Life Fellowship Pozan, Poland; Resurrection Church, Kiev, Ukriane; 1st Baptist Church, Sopot, Poland
Added the “Co-Mission Institute” to Make Disciple Making Pastors in S.E. USA; Utilized our board and team to refine our ministry strategy to make it more scalable
