Refuge and the Resurrection

Discipleship in the Midst of Crisis | A Narrow Gate EFL Production

A Letter About the Film:

Dear Reader,

We are very excited to announce the release of a project that has been very important to us and boldly reflects the heart of our ministry at Narrow Gate, “Refuge and the Resurrection”, a documentary sharing the story of one of our Global Partners. Amid the chaos of war in Ukraine, Resurrection Church in Kyiv, stands as a beacon of hope. As thousands of refugees flee their homes, the church opens its doors, offering not only shelter and food but a path to healing through Jesus using a framework of ministry, mentorship, and discipleship. With the vital support of Narrow Gate EFL, their reach grows, bringing compassion, resources, and renewed hope to even more lives in need.

For over 10 years we have had regular monthly interactions with Pastor Igor Federovich, of Resurrection Church in Kyiv, Ukraine. Up until Covid and the war, we were on the ground annually for extended periods of time equipping leaders in Jesus’ model of relational disciple-making. The highlight of this long-standing relationship is their commitment to a disciple-making culture as well as the development of a strong leadership team that maintains and grows the following initiatives:

  • Implement an intentional disciple-making pathway from salvation to reproducing disciples of Jesus that acts as the framework for all of their ministries.
  • Convene a weekly congregational worship service gathering of 350 people (and growing!).
  • Act as founder and operator of the sole Christian rehab center in Kyiv
  • Act as founder and operator of a social center that is open to the community and equipped with washers, dryers, showers and a place to congregate
  • Host weekly Teen Club and Young Adult Ministries providing a place off the streets where they can find hope and Christian community.
  • Establish and support 3 church plants following Jesus’ model of disciple-making.
  • Maintain an Army Chaplin Ministry that supports front line troops desperate for hope and encouragement.
  • Distribute bi-weekly humanitarian aid to towns and villages without access to support.
  • Help 50 Ukrainian pastors develop a disciple-making curriculum in their churches.

Only through a work of God and their faithful obedience to Jesus’ teachings and methods could this be accomplished through Covid and a war!

Please watch their powerful story and prayerfully consider joining with us to support Resurrection Church.

Sincerely,
Bill Lohnes & Mark Danzey
